My Neural Pathways Have Become Accustomed to Your Sensory Input Patterns

I spent this past week attending a local women in business conference. I've been to a few of these over the years and while they are normally incredibly boring and I have to sit through endless self-righteous presentations, they are great for networking.

This conference however was completely different! It was the same set up as all the rest, three days of presentations, luncheons and focused discussions held at the downtown Radisson. This year's theme was Navigating in Our New Complex World: Understanding the Changing Culture of Today. Feel free to role your eyes...I did when I read through the agenda. I arrived Wednesday morning expecting the worse, thankful that at least the banquet food at the Radisson is pretty good.

As I stood deciding between a danish or a muffin, the woman next to me sighed and muttered "Ahhhh...a fresh crawler, the best part of the conference." I chuckled, turned to her and said "Oh, your wrong there; it's the straight out of the oven apple pie they serve with lunch." All of a sudden another woman near us piped in with "I heard they're hosting a social hour this evening...free wine, that is definitely the best part of the conference!" The three of us burst into laughter and began chattering about the preachy lectures we had to endure just to meet other like-minded women. We took our pastries and coffee over to a corner to continue our mockery and managed to collect a few more gals along the way.

We were having so much fun, there were about 12 of us at this point, we completely missed the start of the conference. When we finally realized our mistake we all looked at one another trying to decide what to do next. I then made a bold suggestion...Why not use one of the empty conference rooms to create our own sessions.

We did just that and by the end of today we had over twenty women participating in our impromptu sessions. There were groups sharing accounting tips, others going over how to use some of the new software available and others collaborating on ways to cross promote their businesses. It was the best conference I've ever attended! I learned so much but best of all I connected with a group of women just like me. We're now forming our own group and who knows...maybe one day we'll have our own conference!

  1. That's so WeeWee! You really are an innovator! Way to go though, I will always commend someone who enhances women strength. Despite how much that sounds like mom and dad, I truly look forward to a Princess WeeWee and Friends conference in the future!
