Don't get me wrong, the death of Whitney Houston is horrible; I grew up listening to her and think she was one of the greatest singers of all time.
That being said, the New Jersey flag should not be lowered to half staff in her honor. That is an honor reserved for those that have served their country; not celebrities.
Both of my girls are proud veterans and it saddens me to see a governor use this sacred symbol to honor someone who has never donned the uniform. Using past violations to justify this action is weak. Honor Whitney Houston in a way that doesn't disrespect the men and women who have served your country.

Dr. Em and Princess WeeWee are sisters raised by a pair of free spirited hippies. One sister rebelled to become a world renowned psychiatrist; specializing in phobias. The other sister embraced the possibility of ideals and became an award winning artist. Both sisters hold a very low tolerance for idiocy and work in their own way to address and combat the common sense challenged. These pages chronicle their adventures and observations.
